Juniper Networks has announced its new enterprise-class wired access switching platform 'EX4100'.

The EX4100 utilizes the latest microservice cloud and mist AI (Mist AI) to provide excellent performance, ease, flexibility, and security to build enterprise access x-layer switching, including all campus fabric architectures, the company explained.

In addition, Juniper has expanded Wired Assurance, Wireless Assurance, and Marvis cloud services through AI-based insights to maximize end-user experience and minimize wireless management costs. These include checking newly automated AP placement/direction settings and new prescriptive actions for common MS client issues, DHCP and wired authentication issues.

The EX4100 is the latest addition to the Juniper EX switching portfolio, offering a variety of enterprise campus and branch environment performance, bandwidth, port density, and other key features. Like the previously released EX4400, the EX4100 optimizes simplicity and scalability with native cloud-based operations, enabling the best user and IT experience with Juniper AIOps.

For example, Mist AI (Mist AI) reduces deployment time through zero-touch provisioning and automated workflows, and provides rapid troubleshooting through Full Stack Event Correlation, Proactive Anomaly Detection, and Self-Driving Network actions.

The EX4100 allows IT teams to seamlessly design EVPN-VXLAN network fabrics that extend to the deployment and access x-layers, along with critical security features such as MACsec AES256 and standards-based microsegmentation using group-based policies (GBP) for growing IoT device demand. In addition, certain versions of the EX4100 switch support PoE++ (Power over Ethernet, 802.3bt) to provide an optimal environment for customers pushing for Wi-Fi 6E transition.

Many companies are struggling to match their wireless AP deployment and orientation to their planned designs during the WLAN deployment process. To solve this problem, Juniper Mist is already supporting tools such as Ekahau, a major Wi-Fi-based real-time location tracking system (RTLS) supplier, and Ivyware, a network design company, to retrieve floor plans one-click. After installation, the Juniper Mist solution automatically verifies that the actual placement and orientation of the APs match the original plan, and highlights and displays misplaced APs for easy and quick modification. This is implemented through a Juniper radio guarantee service utilizing a patented virtual Bluetooth LE (vBL) antenna array combined with channel state information and a patent-pending algorithm utilizing 802.11mc FTM/RTT.

Juniper has added the latest enhancements to AI-based virtual network assistant Marvis for troubleshooting and insight enhancements across wired and wireless domains. One of them is the Mavis Windows Client, which is installed on Windows OS devices to provide improved client-side information and network visibility.

This information is delivered to Mist AI, allowing Mavis to use more information and actionable recommendations to solve user problems. Unlike other vendors that require overlay sensors depending on the situation, Mavis Client supports collecting valuable client data without additional hardware or software.

In addition, the Juniper Mist Wired Assurance service now supports Insight to find and resolve the causes of DHCP failures (e.g., servers, VLANs, or clients) and provides new wired authentication capabilities to enable administrators to identify users and devices that have failed to authenticate on wired devices due to client problems.
